Terms of Service

1. Description of Service

Sealed is a private digital messaging platform that allows users to prepare and schedule text, audio, and video messages for future delivery — including delivery after the user's death. Messages are private, encrypted, and sent only to recipients you explicitly designate.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Sealed. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.

You may edit, update, or permanently delete your messages and account at any time while you are alive and able to access the platform. Nothing is final until your configured delivery conditions are met.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Harass, threaten, or harm any recipient
• Send illegal, defamatory, or abusive content
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Attempt to circumvent recipient opt-out controls
• Transmit malware, spam, or unauthorized advertising
• Violate any applicable law or regulation

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

5. Recipient Rights

Recipients retain the right to decline messages at any time. If a recipient opts out, all pending messages addressed to them will be cancelled and will not be delivered. We will never force, repeat, or resend a message a recipient has declined.

6. Death Verification

Sealed does not independently declare or verify death. Delivery conditions are configured entirely by you, using trusted contacts, inactivity-based check-ins, or other signals you define. We act only when your configured conditions are met. We bear no liability for early delivery due to misconfigured conditions, or for delayed delivery due to unfulfilled conditions.

7. Data & Privacy

Your messages are encrypted at rest and in transit. We will never read, sell, or share your message content. Our handling of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.

8. Subscription & Billing

Some features of Sealed require a paid subscription. Billing is handled on a recurring basis. You may cancel at any time. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AfterWord shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, failed message delivery, or emotional distress. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and notify you via email if the changes are material. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
